FAQ — Wearing Our Apparel to Prayer & the Masjid

Can I wear your clothing during salah or at the masjid?

This is a question we hear often, and it's a meaningful one. The short answer is: it depends on the specific piece, and on the standards of your local masjid or the guidance you follow.

Below is a breakdown of how our designs work, so you have the information you need to make your own informed decision.

What type of designs are on your garments?

All of our current designs are text-based — they feature Arabic phrases, transliterations, or short English statements rooted in Islamic reminders (for example: Alhamdulillah, Sujood for the Heart, Sabr, Akhlaq Over Beauty). None of our current tees or long sleeves include figurative imagery such as faces, animals, or human forms.

Our caps (the Sabr Cap line) carry embroidered lettering only — no figurative imagery.

Does lettering on clothing affect the validity of prayer?

Scholarly positions on this vary. Some hold that writing on clothing causes no issue for salah; others advise that text facing outward or positioned on the chest may be a distraction to the one praying or to those praying behind them, and recommend turning the garment inside-out or changing to plain clothing for prayer.

These are matters of fiqh on which qualified scholars hold different views. We present this context to inform you — not to issue a ruling.

What about masjid dress expectations?

Individual masajid may have their own etiquette guidelines around attire. If you are unsure whether a particular piece is appropriate for your masjid, checking with the imam or administration of that masjid is the most reliable path.

Where can I learn more?

For detailed religious guidance specific to your situation, we encourage you to refer to a qualified scholar or Islamic institution you trust. Our role is to share what we know about how our garments are made — the religious determination is yours to make.
